Culture Day

Today was Culture Day at St Francis Xavier Catholic school. As part of our celebration of "My Story, My Culture", we got to dress up for the day, in costumes from different cultures from around the world. There were some amazing outfits. Swimming Lessons

We have been swimming for two weeks now and what an awesome two weeks it has been. Every Tuesday and Friday morning, Room 1 is on the go as soon as the morning bell rings. First up, we get changed. Then we have roll call and prayers before we jump on our bus to head off to the pools for a 9.30am lesson. The children love the bus ride almost as much as they love the swimming pool.

The instructors have been doing a fabulous job teaching the children and the development of some children's confidence in the water has been remarkable. A big thank you to the parents, grandparents and extended whanau who have been on hand to support us - especially at changing time. What chaos! But we have had a good run so far. Long may it continue.

Water Fun Day

On the 17th of February we had a Water Fun Day. The teachers organised a lot of exciting activities out on the back field and by the time we finished our first activity we were soaking wet. We ended our morning over at the hockey turf, running around under the water sprinklers. We even managed to get in a bit of sunbathing before we headed back to the classroom.

We have had a great start to the school year in Room 1.

Our concept this term is "My Story, My Culture" and as part of our learning, we have been sharing stories about our different cultures, the things we like and what we are good at.
